What is Hague certification?
The Hague certification, also known as APOSTILLE certification, is a form of authentication under the Hague Convention. It is a method developed by member states of the Hague to ensure mutual recognition of documents. This certification is typically issued uniformly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Supreme Court of each country. Specifically, the designated government agency verifies the signature of the issuer on the document to confirm its authenticity and validity. If deemed genuine and valid, an additional page with Hague authentication is added to the document and stamped with an institutional seal, allowing it to have legal effect in the destination country. It should be noted that Hague certification only authenticates the signature of the first issuer and does not verify or authenticate the content of the certified document.
